Over the NSW June long weekend, Australia’s largest operating steam locomotive, Beyer-Garratt 6029 was carrying interested members of the community on joy rides within the Country Regional Network between Bathurst and Orange.
Transport Heritage NSW (THNSW) recently welcomed Beyer-Garratt 6029 into its operating fleet following its acquisition by the NSW Government.
It was fantastic to see this outstanding and historical example of rail engineering in all its glory on the CRN!
This locomotive is a true testament to all the fabulous work of THNSW, volunteers and previous owners over the years to maintain it as a reliable, working asset. We look forward to future events and heritage train movements throughout the CRN in the years to come.
“It’s great to work with THNSW and other operators within the CRN. UGL Regional Linx was pleased to support these ad hoc train paths which allowed so many to experience a journey on this one-of-a-kind locomotive.” Jamie Dean – UGL Regional Linx Train Control Manager.
